The Montana Seed Trade Association is proud to announce the 2019-20 MSTA Scholarship winners. This year we were offered $1000 scholarships to four worthy candidates.
Alexis Clingingsmith is a three time recipient of the MSTA scholarship and our first recipient to be moving onto a Masters Program. Alexis graduated from Montana State University with a degree in Crop Science last spring and has been working with the MSU Foundation Seed program. She plans to attend Ohio State this fall to study Plant Health Management.
Garrett Depner is a junior from Choteau, MT at MSU-Northern studying Ag. Operations Technology and Ag. Mechanics. Garrett plans to continue farming and use his degree to supplement his income to keep his dream of having a family farm alive. He has been awarded $1000 dollars for the 2019-2000 school year.
Cantor Coverdale was sponsored by Treasure State Seed in Fairfield, Montana. He is a student at Montana State University studying aviation and has plans to use his skills as crop duster. Cantor has received $1000 toward his expenses for the 2019-20 school year.
Clayton Edwards was raised on a family farm near Lindsay, MT. He is majoring in Crop Science with a minor in Ag. Business. He has a goal to become an agronomist who helps educate other farmers on how to be more successful and increase their yields. He would also like to return home to the farm at some point to join his father in production agriculture.
Tom Grubb is a three time winner of the MSTA scholarship. He is originally from Coffee Creek, Montana and is studying Crop Science at Montana State University. Tom plans to graduate in the spring of 2020 and will pursue a job in agriculture before eventuallyreturning to the family farm. Tom was sponsored by ClearView Ag. in Denton MT. Tom will receive $1000 toward his education expenses for the 2019-20 school year. Congratulations!
